The Origami Goose was conceived of to complement the architectural language of folded planes and angled geometry of the library and YMCA building’s architectural expression and to engage the imagination of this place. The image of the goose is tied to the landscape of Waterloo and origami’s distinctive formal aesthetic was in keeping with the building’s architectural expression.
The sculpture offers a new origami goose folding pattern to be taught to visitors and patrons, as part of the artwork’s ongoing public engagement and the facility’s cultural programming.
