Five Corners is a new public space located in the centre of
oldest neighbourhood of Saskatoon. The intervention is a series of
five folded steel markers that echo the shape of an infamous
intersection of five street that once converged on the site. The
placement of the markers formalize the existing desire lines created by
pedestrians who traverse the site. The steel is perforated with a
pattern of “eyes” which are inspired by the bark pattern of
the native white birch tree. The soft landscaping includes a bed of
native long grasses planted behind each marker.
