Situated within the main entrance lobby of the South Fish Creek Recreation Centre, the public artwork, ‘Courts’ takes inspiration from the court line patterns of the many sport activities supported by the centre. These include the court lines for hockey, lacrosse, ringette, basketball, volleyball, and badminton. These are inclusive play spaces where people come to partake in team based activities and sportsmanship.
The artwork was informed and developed in close consultation with the staff and users of this facility. The resulting sculpture is one that is specific and expressive of the use of the facility having a large scale colourful presence in their main gathering space.
